Transition / Migration
“Transition is the stage of greatest risk in any outsourcing relationship; it represents a sustained period where failure is acknowledged by both customer and supplier as being possible.”
During transition, the service provisioning will move from the old to the new situation. This stage consists of two streams, both managed as projects in a program:
- Implementation of the newly defined demand & supply function, fitted to the new situation.
- Transition of IT service delivery from one supplier to another, led by the new supplier(s).
In METRI’s opinion, the transition is a separate project, with a separate contract and separate governance, apart from the future exploitation stage. The project should handover transitioned services from the transition stage to the exploitation stage by meeting acceptance criteria (clients demand & supply management function, and suppliers exploitation, requirements).
METRI has a relevant experience with guiding clients into the new situation. From a Quality Assurance perspective METRI can help clients avoid pitfalls and exploit opportunities.
