The need for cost savings,
increased efficiency, quality enhancement or strategic business orientation could be a motive to (re)consider the IT sourcing strategy. The IT Sourcing Lifecycle has been developed by METRI as a model for phasing sourcing activities, taking a predefined IT sourcing strategy as a starting point.
A key feature of this model is the repetitive cycle. Sourcing issues will be raised regularly in each stage of the IT Sourcing Lifecycle. Consequently, organisations can measure progress and results against pre-defined sourcing objectives on a frequent basis.
The stages are successively:

- IT Sourcing Business Case;
- Decision-making (RFI /RFP and Selection);
- Demand & Supply Management;
- Transition and Migration;
- Exploitation and Delivery of IT Services.
