“Reduce costs by getting insight in and managing IT energy usage”
IT energy consumption is significant and has reached the same level as the aviation sector (2% of the total energy consumption). IT energy cost is expected to reach 25% of the total IT cost the coming years. IT energy consumption on the workplace is roughly the same as for data centres.
Energy prices will rise coming years. The need for alternate energy sources will increase. There is an increased focus on the need to stop wasting energy. Energy is not for the users and wasters, energy is for all of us.
The pressure on society and organizations to reduce energy consumption and care for the environment increases. Reduced energy consumption on the workplace results in a cost reduction of 100 euro per workplace, less CO2 emission and contributes to an organisation’s corporate social responsibility.
Together with Duradino, METRI is involved in the Workplace Energy label (W.E.L.). W.E.L. offers organisations the opportunity to:
- compare energy consumption between organisational entities and departments;
- compare energy consumption between organisations;
- reduce workplace related energy costs;
- share Best Practices;
- increase staff awareness for workplace related energy consumption;
- stimulate staff to reduce energy consumption;
- judge energy utilisation scores by an independent organisation;
- contribute actively to a green and sustainable society.
